On Wednesday morning Brad Pitt was punched in the face while walking the red carpet with Angelina Jolie. The couple was making their way past countless fans, photographers and reporters toward Hollywood's El Capitan Theater for the Maleficent premiere.
"Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were signing autographs when a man jumped over the barrier and struck Mr. Pitt in the face," said officer Nuria Vanegas, an LAPD spokesperson according to HuffingtonPost.
Vitalii Sediuk, a Ukrainian, was identified as the man who assaulted Brad Pitt. While the name might not sound familiar, he has been involved in similar encounters with some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities. Having run-ins with Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio, he is most famous for sneaking into the 2013 Grammys and trying to steal Adele’s statuette from presenter Jennifer Lopez via Yahoo.
Security detail at the event took the assailant down and held him in their custody until the arrival of the LAPD. For now a temporary restraining order has been put in place to protect Brad Pitt from the Ukranian – it will last five days. At the end of the five days Pitt will have the option to make it longer but that would require the case going to court. Sediuk was taken to the Hollywood precint where he was charged with a misdemeanor battery and is being held with a $20,000 bail.
