Bravo announced three new scripted projects that are in development at the NBCUniversal-owned cable network. Although the network is still better known for reality shows, Bravo is increasingly expanding its slate of scripted series.

Up first is The Rules of Attraction, which is based on the Bret Easton Ellis book. The pilot was written by Roger Avary, who also wrote and directed the 2002 film version. It follows a single murder mystery told from 12 different points of view. The film starred James Van Der Beek, Jessica Biel and Ian Somerhalder.

Greg Shapiro (Zero Dark Thirty) is executive producing. It is a Lionsgate TV production.

Shanghai comes from David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly) and is also a Lionsgate TV production. This is an ensemble series set in a wealthy city that continues to grow as a center for international business. Cultures clash, creating drama between the large cast.

Finally, Sweet Life is from Amy Bloom (State of Mind). This will be about Oak Bluffs, a part of Martha’s Vineyard where affluent African Americans live. The Bennett family is the focus, as is their romances and tragedies throughout the summer.
