On Saturday June 7, 2014 California Chrome will have a chance to be the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 36 years. In 1978, Affirmed became the 11th horse to ever win the Triple Crown.
Since winning the Triple Crown, the horse’s co-owner, Patrice Wolfson, has been very adamant about her horse keeping spotlight and all the fame on Affirmed. With that said, thirty-six years seems to be a long enough wait because Wolfson is ready to watch California Chrome make history according to CTPost.
"I think I am about ready to give up the last Triple Crown winner," Wolfson said. "I would like to see a great horse win it, and California Chrome has the potential to be a great horse. We will be cheering for him."
The Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York, is a 1 ½ mile race, roughly a quarter mile longer than both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. This is concerning for a lot of people because California Chrome struggles in longer distance races via BleacherReport.
Love California Chrome. Great horse. But man, I am really skeptical he can get 1 1/2 miles. Hope it happens.

Perry Martin & Steve Coburn purchased the mother of California Chrome for $8,000. Today he has an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion according to DRF.
