CBS cancelled five, fairly obvious, series on Saturday, while finally handing out a renewal order to The Mentalist.

The network axed freshman comedies The Crazy Ones, Friends With Better Lives and Bad Teacher, while also cancelling new dramas Intelligence and Hostages, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

None of the cancellations are all that surprising as many struggled and Hostages lost star Dylan McDermott to CBS new series Stalker, which was picked up on Friday. Crazy Ones was the only real show on the bubble as it averaged a decent 2.8 in the 18-49 demo for the season, but featured an expensive cast, which included Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The network clearly wanted star Simon Baker to sweat a little after not giving The Mentalist an early renewal, but its pickup isn't too surprising as the show has been decent on Sunday nights with a 2.3 in the demo.

The five cancellation opens up spots for several new series that were picked up on Friday, including Matthew Perry's Odd Couple remake, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, the previously mentioned Stalker, Madam Secretary and The McCarthys. CBS then later also put in a series order for CSI: Cyber.
