CBS evidently needed a little more time to decide on the CSI spinoff than some other series, but ultimately pulled the trigger on CSI: Cyber.

The pickup was first announced by executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer through Twitter, where he wrote simply, "Thrilled to have CSI: CYBER on CBS next season."

The spinoff stars Patricia Arquette and had a backdoor pilot air a couple weeks ago, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will play the special agent leading the FBI's Cyber Crime Division, which is in tasked with handling crimes that begin online before leading to real world consequences.

The spinoffs pickup follows a couple hours after six other shows received series orders. CBS' fall season will feature the comedies Odd Couple and The McCarthys, along with the four dramas: Stalker, NCIS: New Orleans, Madam Secretary and Scorpion.

With the CSI spinoff officially given a series order, the only show left in limbo is How I Met Your Dad, which was rumored to be greenlit, but CBS came out and denied those reports. Now are some are left wondering if it will get passed over.
