CBS announced the network had placed series orders on Friday for six new shows, with two being comedies and the rest dramas.
The network picked up NCIS: New Orleans, Odd Couple, Stalker, Madam Secretary, Scorpion and The McCarthys for the upcoming fall season, according to .
The backdoor pilot of NCIS: New Orleans, which stars Scott Bakula, did well in the ratings, with both episodes averaging about a 2.5 in the 18-49 demographic. Odd Couple is the multicamera remake starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon, while comedy series The McCarthys is a holdover that CBS declined to pick up before but decided to keep around just in case.
Stalker is a detective thriller series which stars Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott and Scorpion follows a genius played by Elyes Gabel and co-starring Katharine McPhee. Madam Secretary is about an unpredictable secretary of State played by Tea Leoni.
CBS already ordered Battle Creek to series, while How I Met Your Dad and the CSI spinoff are still up in the air. The former was the subject of rumors that it was picked up, but CBS quickly shot those down, reports Deadline and now there seems to be a strong possibility that the series does not move forward.
The series orders come on a day where the other major networks are also shaping their 2014-15 TV seasons by either renewing or cancelling programs.
