CBS has made major shifts in its schedule for Fall 2014, although there will only be five new shows launching in September. The biggest major change is that the season will launch with The Big Bang Theory on Mondays, as the network welcomes NFL football on Thursday for the first two months of the season.

The only new comedy that will debut in September is The McCarthys with Laurie Metcalf, Jack McGee, Tyler Ritter and Joel McIntyre as a Boston family. Four new dramas, including the NCIS: New Orleans spinoff with Scott Bakula, will premiere in the fall.

Stalker features Dylan McDermott as a detective investigating stalkers, while Tea Leoni stars as the Secretary of State in Madam Secretary. Scorpion finds Katharine McPhee as a member of a U.S. high-tech team.

Thursday Night Football will dominate the Thursday schedule from Sept. 11 to Oct. 23. The following week, Big Bang moves back to its familiar spot.

CBS has also ordered Battle Creek, The Odd Couple remake and CSI: Cyber. These will air at a later date. Mike & Molly, The Mentalist and Undercover Boss will also return later.

“These eight new series and Thursday Night Football add to the strength and stability of a Network that is returning 21 shows,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “They will be part of an all-season, year-round strategy of original programming that starts in the summer with Under the Dome and Extant, rolls into the fall with football and new series premieres, and extends into 2015 with the launch of more new and returning shows.”
