Singer Janet Jackson and actor David Boreanaz are celebrating their birthdays today.

Singer and actress Janet Jackson turns 48 today. Jackson didn't come to prominence until the release of her third studio album, Control, despite being from a famous family. Her fourth album, Rhythm Nation 1814, made her the only artist in history to garner seven top five singles from the same album. In her album janet, Jackson started to develop more sex appeal. She went on to release five more albums; The Velvet Rope, All for You, Damita Jo, 20 Y.O. and Discipline.

Jackson transitioned to acting, making her film debut in John Singleton's Poetic Justice in 1993. She went on to star in The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Why Did I Get Married? and its sequel, and For Colored Girls.

Jackson has sold over 140 million records, and is ranked as one of the best-selling artists in the history of contemporary music. Jackson has a total of five albums among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Definitive 200 Albums, Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and The Telegraph's 120 Essential Pop Albums.

Jackson has won six Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award, and received Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations. She has been awarded the Radio Music Award's Legend Award, Recording Academy's Governor's Award, Billboard Award's Artistic Achievement Award, MTV's inaugural Icon tribute, American Music Award's Award of Merit and was also the recipient of the World Music Awards' Legend Award. She currently holds a record of over thirty Billboard Awards, and is the only artist in history to receive Grammy nominations in five different genres.

David Boreanaz, 45

Television actor, producer and director David Boreanaz turns 45 today. Boreanaz first appeared on the television series, , as Kelly's biker boyfriend. He was then cast in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as a vampire named Angel. He starred in a spin-off series, Angel, which ran until 2004.

In 2005, Boreanaz earned the role of Seeley Booth, an F.B.I. agent who works with a forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel) to solve numerous crimes, in the FOX drama Bones. Boreanaz also appeared in the shows Punk'd, Family Guy and American Dad!.

Boreanaz is currently married to actress Jaime Bergman, and have a son and a daughter.
