The Chicago Blackhawks are doing all they can to hang onto the Stanley Cup. After winning game five of the Western Conference Finals in double overtime at home, the Blackhawks overcame a third-period deficit in game six and topped the Los Angeles Kings 4-3. This sets up an all-decisive game seven to determine who will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Chicago right wing Patrick Kane scored the game-winning goal with 3:45 left in the contest. Kane also netted the first Blackhawk goal of the game (72 seconds into the second period).
“He sees plays, makes plays,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said in his postgame press conference on the NHL Network. “The bigger the stage too, he likes that challenge.”
Los Angeles struck first in the game, with a goal by left wing Dwight King. After two goals in the second period by Chicago, the Kings fought back to tie the game and take the lead in the third quarter.
Trailing 3-2, the Blackhawks knotted the game on defenseman Duncan Keith’s fourth score of the postseason. Kane and center Andrew Shaw recorded assists on the play. Five minutes later, Kane netted the eventual game-winner.
“They want to win; they find ways,” Quenneville said in his postgame press conference on the NHL Network.
Goalie Corey Crawford amassed 26 saves, according to ESPN.
Game seven will be on Sunday night at the United Center in Chicago. The winner will have a date with the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup Finals.
