Demi Lovato is talking candidly about her daily struggle with bipolar disorder, one of the issues she sought help for back in 2011.
The “Neon Lights” singer, 21, spoke to Cosmopolitan for Latinas and admitted the struggle is a “daily thing.”
"I treat it with medication. Not everybody does that, but for me it works,” she said. “That's what works for me – medicating, checking in with people, being honest, and being grateful for things."
Lovato was named Fun, Fearless Latina of the Year by Cosmopolitan and she just wrapped up a tour in support of her latest album DEMI, People reports.
Although she revealed aspirations to win a Grammy and an Academy Award in the future, her life’s mission is to help those who need a guiding light.
“When I was younger, I needed someone in the spotlight to idolize, who stood for positivity and light and happiness, and wanted to change the world and because I didn't have that, I realized, I want to do that, if only for my 12-year-old little sister,” she explained.
Lovato has been extremely honest about her struggles with an eating disorder, addiction, bipolar disorder and self-mutilation.
