Diane Keaton has previously revealed that she battled with bulimia earlier in her life, but she’s now recalling just how bad it got during a recent interview.
Keaton, 68, sat down with Dr. Oz last week and told him she consumed about 20,000 calories each day in her twenties, calling it the “lowest point in my life.”
"All I did was feed my hunger. So I was an addict," she said, Us Weekly reports.
"I was an obsessed person that somehow tricked myself and managed to hide it. So when you are living with a lie for four years -- it wipes out any growth at all whatsoever,” she continued.
Keaton revealed her past eating disorder struggles in her 2011 book Then Again. She said it began in 1965 when a casting director said she would only get the understudy role of Sheila in Annie Hall if she lost ten pounds.
She wrote at the time, “I think I'm a sister to all the rest of the women -- and I'm sure men as well -- who have had some kind of eating disorder, and I'm a part of the team."
