That’s right, the 16-year-old Maleficent star may be royal after all.
According to ABC News, ancestry.com has recently discovered a connection between Elle and her sister Dakota Fanning to Britain’s royal family.
"It's so weird," Elle told E! News at the Maleficent premiere in Hollywood. "I saw it the other day. My cousins called me up and they were like, 'Look online!' I looked online and like King Edward III is my great great-great-grandfather. I was like, 'Is this real?'"
Even more surprising is that the sisters are also the distant cousins of Kate Middleton. “It’s Crazy,” she said. Fanning has always been curious about her family roots and luckily she has found them.
“I’ve always wanted to do the ancestry.com thing because I think it would be really cool,” Fanning said to E!. “But someone did it for me, which I think is great.”
Fanning plays princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty, in Disney’s upcoming film Maleficent alongside Angelina Jolie.
