Executive Chairman George Bodenheimer is moving on from ESPN. His position at ESPN will end his more than three decades of work with the network this week.
On reflecting on his position, Bodenheimer said, "ESPN's future is bright, which is of great comfort to anyone who cares deeply about our company," according to the Associated Press.
ESPN experienced an extraordinary amount of expansion while Bodenheimer was the president. The company added four TV networks and 28 channels that cover sports. Bodenheimer joined ESPN as a driver in the mail room, and served as the president of ESPN beginning in 1998. Bodenheimer said in a note to his colleagues that he is proud to “represent the men and women of ESPN.” He calls ESPN employees some of the best. According to Broadwcasting Cable.com, Bodenheimer said, “They know what the mission of the company is, and together we will figure it out…I have great faith that it will always be true.’”
The network announced that Bodenheimer’s last day will be this Saturday.
