The weigh-in for Saturday’s highly anticipated fight has already taken place and audiences around the world are ready to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. go up against Marcos Maidana but not it seems that the fight is in jeopardy over a gloves dispute.
The New York Daily News reported that Mayweather's chief advisers want to call the fight off.
It is normal that a day before the fight is to take place that each boxer will decide n the gloves that they will be wearing during the fight. During this process Mayweather's camp objected to the custom Everlast MX gloves that Maidana wanted to use in the ring.
Mayweather loudly objected to the gloves which lead to a ruling by the Nevada Athletic Commission and that the CEO, Richard Schaefer, said that the gloves could not be worn.
"There were some custom-made gloves for Maidana, the Everlast with the horsehair filling. There are two types of gloves, the ones with the foam padding and the ones with the horsehair. The third type is a combination of the two," Schaefer explained after the objection.
USA Today reported that the fight is still on schedule to take place.
