Fox is developing a mini-series based on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, in which three people were killed and over 200 people left injured. The event series will be based on the book Long Mile Home: Boston Under Attack, the City's Courageous Recovery and the Epic Hunt for Justice, written by Boston Globe journalists Scott Helman and Jenna Russell.

Rod Lurie is writing and executive producing the project, reports Deadline. Basil Iwanyk (We Are Marshall, The Expendables) will produce under his Thunder Road banner. Iwanyk also worked on Ben Affleck’s Boston-set The Town, while Lurie produced What Doesn’t Kill You with Mark Ruffalo, another film set in Boston.

Helman and Russell’s book focused on the lives of five people, who were forever changed by the two bombs that went off near the finish line at the 2013 marathon. The reporters are members of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the tragedy.

As The Hollywood Reporter notes, if this does get produced, it will be Fox’s latest event/mini-series. The network’s 24: Live Another Day premieres next week and Gracepoint and Wayward Pines are both in development.
