Hilary Duff recently sported a temporary tattoo of a moon – which is reportedly a symbol for the controversial religion Scientology – but debunked rumors that she’s now practicing it.
She took to Twitter to say the tattoo is just a moon and does not have any religious connotation whatsoever.
“My favorite moon is out tonight which is what arm tattoo actually stands for in case anyone was confused ...” she tweeted.

The rumors actually started two months ago, when Duff, 26, took to Instagram to post a photo of herself, which shows the moon tattoo clearly, with her friend Alanna Masterson of The Walking Dead fame. Masterson is a Scientologist, which fueled the rumors.
The tattoo caused RadarOnline to claim Duff had joined Scientology as well. They claimed the moon conctained the "ARC" triangle, which stands for "Affinity, Reality and Communication" in Scientology.
Moreover, on the red carpet before the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday night, Duff opened up about her separation from husband Mike Comrie.
She told E! News, “we don't know what our future looks like right now.”
