Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden agreed to a five-year contract extension on Tuesday. He is now signed through the 2019 season.

The new deal is worth $68 million. It includes a $14 million signing bonus, $22 million guaranteed at the signing, and another $23 million guaranteed for injury, according to ProFootball Talk, which first reported the news. Haden will make $6.678 million this year, which means he will make $74.678 million over the next six years.

"This is a great day for both Joe Haden and the Cleveland Browns," Browns general manager Ray Farmer said. "Joe's a good, young player who's made a commitment to our organization, and he's somebody with whom we want to move forward in order to advance our football team. He's a great person. He's the right guy to both build with and build around as we attempt to become an elite football team. He's a true professional. When we talk about identifying talent, building through the draft, developing solid players and retaining them, Joe Haden's at the top of the list. I'm excited. Our team is excited."

The offseason has been a busy one for the Browns. They added safety Donte Whitner and cornerback Justin Gilbert through a draft-day trade, NFL.com notes. They also signed running back Ben Tate and drafted Johnny Manziel. They could lose Josh Gordon because of a failed drug test.

Haden has been with the Browns since they drafted him in 2010. In 57 career games he has 13 interceptions, 68 defended passes, three forced fumbles, and two sacks, according to ESPN. This past season he made the Pro Bowl for the first time.
