There is a great deal of excitement within the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise after they had an excellent draft class this past weekend during the NFL Draft. The highlight of this class was the Jags’ 1st round selection of former University of Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles. This new class is hoping to help the Jaguars turn their franchise around, but sadly one wide receiver may not be there.

It was reported today by the NFL that wide receiver Justin Blackmon who has been suspended indefinitely from the league due to multiple substance abuse violations may not be with Jacksonville for much longer. The Jaguars got rid of Blackmon’s locker, which is not a promising sign that he will be with the team for much longer.

Blackmon is still eligible to be reinstated for the upcoming season, but it appears that he will not be putting on a Jaguars uniform. This is very disappointing news for a young player who has so much potential when he was able to play. Blackmon played in all 16 games his rookie season but he he only played four last year due to suspensions.

There is more evidence pointing to the fact that Blackmon’s time in Jacksonville is over. Rant Sports reports that the Jaguars drafted two promising receivers Marqise Lee from Southern California and Allen Robinson from Penn State. These are two receivers that have potential to fill the void that is being left by Blackmon. They can also add to the young receiving core of Cecil Shorts and Mike Brown.

It is sad that Blackmon’s time in Jacksonville is looking to end this way, but the franchise wishes nothing but the best for Blackmon and hopes he is able to take care of himself and maybe one day he will return to the NFL.
