Actress Katharine McPhee has filed for divorce after six years of marriage with husband Nick Cokas.

The Smash alum's rep confirmed exclusively with People, "After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for dissolution of marriage." The rep added, "The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends."

A source spoke with the site and insisted that the split wasn't because of outside factors or problems, rather it was simply time. "They'd grown apart and weren't right for each other anymore."

According to TMZ, the couple tried reconciling earlier in 2014 after she was caught by photogs kissing married Smash director Michael Morris, while the couple was estranged.

McPhee will be starring in the upcoming CBS show Scorpion. The drama was picked up earlier in May, alongside several other pilots ahead of network upfronts.

In the series her character is tasked with essentially babysitting a group of super intelligent led by Walter O'Brien, played by Elyes Gabel, as the group looks to help provide the final defense against complex threats of the modern age. Others in the cast include Eddie Kaye Thomas and Robert Patrick.
