PBS announced on Thursday that documentary filmmaker Ken Burns has made The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, a seven part series on the Roosevelt political dynasty.
Beth Hoppe, PBS chief programming executive, told the Associated Press, “I think it's the best thing Ken's done since The Civil War. He thinks it might be the best thing he's ever done. The viewer experience is changing and we're trying to dish this up as an epic binge."
Hoppe said the series is about U.S. presidents and cousins Theodore and Franklin D. Roosevelt and FDR's wife, Eleanor. It will be a 14-hour series. Burns is known for his documentary programs, including The Civil War and Medal of Honor.
Burns’ new documentary will begin PBS’s fall season on September 14. Other popular shows to appear on PBS will include Porgy and Bess, How We Got to Now with Steven Johnson, Finding Your Roots, and Makers.
The Roosevelts will air nightly at 8 p.m. and can be seen on PBS through Saturday, September 20 with a repeat at 10 p.m., according to TVBytheNumbers.
