Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career.

According to USA Today, Durant captured 119 of the 125 first-place votes after a season in which he won his fourth scoring title.

Durant led the Thunder to a 59-23 record this season, which was the best in the Western Conference. He helped the team achieve that record while its other star, Russell Westbrook, was in and out of the lineup for much of the season with knee injuries.

The 6-foot-9, five-time All-Star averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game.

ESPN noted that Miami Heat’s LeBron James, Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin, Chicago Bulls’ Joakim Noah and Houston Rockets’ James Harden rounded out the top five.

Durant finished second to James in the MVP voting each of the last two seasons. But now the 25-year-old ended King James’ reign and has an MVP award to go with his scoring titles.
