New York Knicks president Phil Jackson had dinner with star Knicks player Carmelo Anthony to discuss Anthony's upcoming free agency situation.
ESPN reports how Jackson and Anthony met for dinner on April 29th to discuss Anthony's pending free agency. Anthony intends to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Knicks and test out the free agency market. Jackson has stated that he wants to re-sign Anthony to the team but also said that he want Anthony to take a pay cut. Jackson is also trying to find a new coach for the Knicks after firing Mike Woodson last month. Steve Kerr is considered a favorite for the position and the Knicks are reportedly working on a deal to get Kerr. Anthony's decision to re-sign with the Knicks will apparently come down to who will be the next coach of the team. Other teams who are reportedly interested in signing Anthony include the Bulls, Rockets, Clippers and Lakers.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Bulls player Joakim Noah has been trying to persuade Anthony to sign with the Bulls. Noah has also reportedly told other Bulls players to try and encourage Anthony to join the team.
