Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth is planning a break from her TV career by returning to Broadway. She will star in a revival of the 1978 musical On The Twentieth Century.

The Wicked actress will star as Lily Garland, a Hollywood diva taking a train trip from Chicago to New York City, the Roundabout Theatre said on Tuesday.

Chenoweth’s co-star will be Peter Gallagher, who plays bankrupt theater producer Oscar Jaffe. During the train ride, he tries to get Lily, his former lover, to star in his new Broadway production.

On The Twentieth Century was written by Cy Coleman, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Scott Ellis (Curtains) is directing. Warren Carlyle is the choreographer.

According to the New York Times, this will be Chenoweth’s first Broadway role since Promises, Promises in 2010. Gallagher has not been seen on Broadway since The Country Girl in 2008. He also starred in the 1992 production of Guys and Dolls.

On The Twentieth Century will run just 20 weeks at the American Airlines Theatre and will begin on Feb. 12. Roundabout has delayed its previously announced Noises Off production until next year.
