Matthew McConaughe was in Austin at the end of April for the second annual Mack, Jack, and McConaughey fundraiser, a two-day event held in Austin from April 24 -25.
It’s great to have an event where legends from the world of movies, sports, and music can raise money together for a good cause. The celebrities don’t mind returning to their home state, and giving back to the community. Musician Jack Ingram and football coach Mack Brown partnered with McConaughey to raise money for five local children's charities.
McConaughey and Camila have children and they say that it’s great to live in Austin. McConaughey’s wife, Camila said, “Everyone protects us here and lets us just be us," according to People.
McConaughey and Brown chose a charity that would impact the lives of children in Texas, California, and Louisiana. In 2013, the celebrities were able to raise funds and continue forward with projects involving the MJ&M supported HeartGift, CureDuchenne, and Grounded in Music.
The star of the Dallas Buyers Club and the other celebrities raised $1 million to benefit organizations that raise money for children. Football coach Mack Brown said on their website, "We could not have been more pleased with the outcome of this year's MJ&M. Friends from across the nation came together to support this amazing effort to help youngsters in our community, all the while enjoying an unforgettable, wonderful time in Austin. We all cannot wait to make an even greater impact in 2014."
In 2013, successful events included a gala opening attended by Grammy Award winning artist John Mellencamp. Big League sponsors have been key in making these special events fun and important.
