Dexter is without a doubt the most successful show in the history of the Showtime network. Michael C. Hall played Dexter Morgan on the hit series during its eight season run from 2006-2013 and even Hall was not a fan of the series finale. Michael C. Hall agrees with the common reaction that the finale was a letdown and very unsatisfying.

“Liked it? I don’t think I even watched it” Hall said in an interview with The Daily Beast when talking about the finale. The series finale was met with mixed reviews, with most people arguing that the finale was not very good. If the man who played the main protagonist on the show did not watch the series finale, it would seem that the finale did not do justice to the show that won several Golden Globes and was a fan favorite.

A possible reason for the letdown finale could be the length that the show ran or the possibility that the writers could have been gassed considering the finale season was moved from fall to summer 2013. “I thought it was narratively satisfying—but it was not so savory” Hall would say.

Hall also mentions how people will come to him and ask him about the ending reports The Huffington Post. Hall said that they will tell him what they didn’t like it and found it unsatisfying, or they will come up to him and defend the finale and say how great the series finale was. People will talk about how they didn’t like how Dexter isolated himself as a lumberjack, leaving Hannah and his son Harrison or how his adoptive sister Deb died.

Dexter was an incredible show and even if the finale was lackluster or awful as some people say, the series itself was incredible, especially the first four seasons of the show which are without a doubt some of the best television in the past 20 years.
