Newly drafted football player Michael Sam celebrated getting drafted in the NFL by hitting up Las Vegas.

People reports that Sam, was drafted by the St. Louis Rams and made history by becoming the first openly gay player to get drafted into the NFL. Sam, along with his boyfriend Vito Cammisano and and nine friends went to Tao Las Vegas to celebrate.

In February, while still a member of the Missouri Tigers Sam announced that he was gay during an interview on ESPN's Outside The Lines. Sam explained, "I came to tell the world that I'm an openly, proud gay man." After getting drafted Sam took to Twitter to show his appreciation toward the Rams and thanking them for drafting him.

ESPN reveals how Sam received a lot of positive support from the public on getting drafted into the NFL. President Barack Obama issued a statement through the White House which stated "The President congratulates Michael Sam, the Rams and the NFL for taking an important step forward today in our Nation’s journey." Other celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Magic Johnson, Andy Cohen and Jason Collins posted tweets congratulating Sam.
