An NBA Board of Governors panel agreed on Thursday on quickly moving forward in ousting Donald Sterling as an owner in the league.
According to Reuters, the panel consisted of 10 owners and they unanimously approved on moving "as expeditiously as possible" as the league looks to rid themselves of Sterling as the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers by forcing him to sell the team.
The panel agreed only two days after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that Sterling would be banned for life from attending any NBA-related activities. He was also fined the maximum $2.5 million that the bylaws allowed. "We stand together in condemning Mr. Sterling's views," Silver said.
The new commissioner also said that he would urge the owners to get together and vote on forcing Sterling to sell the team. Three-quarters of the NBA's owners will need to vote in approval for that to happen.
Since the news of the ban, several people have said they are interested in buying the team, should Sterling sell. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has indicated he and his business group would like to make an offer, as has billionaire media mogul David Geffen and even rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs let everyone know he's also interested. Of course you can also add Oprah Winfrey to interested parties.
