NBA superstar Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder honored his mom during his acceptance speech for the NBA MVP award.

E Online reports how Durant honored his mother Wanda Pratt, while accepting the honor of being named the NBA's Most Valuable Player. During his speech Durant spoke about how his mother raised him and his brother as a single mom and made a lot of sacrifices in order for them to survive. Durant stated, "We weren't supposed to be here. You made us believe. You kept us off the street, put clothes on our backs, food on the table." Durant also said that his mother was "the real MVP".

ABC News reveals how Durant discussed in his speech how excited he was when his mom moved their family into a their first apartment. Pratt was surprised that Durant was able to recall that event, but says, "I can look back and see that moment. We’re an extremely close family."
