NBC is really on board with the live musical and has just announced plans for its third - The Music Man. The popular musical will follow in the footsteps of Carrie Underwood’s The Sound of Music and this year’s Peter Pan.

NBC President Bob Greenblatt made the announcement during today’s upfront presentation for advertisers in New York, notes Deadline.

NBC had a big hit with The Sound of Music, which featured country music star Underwood in the lead role. Back in January, the peacock network picked Peter Pan as this year’s live musical. The Music Man will air in 2015. The cast for Peter Pan still hasn’t been set.

The Music Man was written by Meredith Wilson and features countless familiar tunes, including “‘Til There Was You.” It was first adapted for the screen in 1962 with Shirley Jones and Robert Preston, winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Score. In 2003, ABC aired a made-for-TV version with Matthew Broderick and Kristin Chenoweth, which earned five Emmy nominations.

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who worked on NBC’s The Sound of Music, also worked on the 2003 Music Man.
