The New England Patriots have unveiled a unique offer for fans who are afraid that a player will get cut or traded right after they buy a replica jersey. Those jerseys are expensive, but popular and the Patriots want to make sure that fans keep buying them.
The “Jersey Guarantee” covers anyone who buys a youth or adult replica jersey at full-price, beginning tomorrow, May 8. If the player whose name is on the jersey is no longer on the Patriots’ payroll within the calendar year the jersey was purchased, the fan can get a 25 percent discount for another shirt.
As a bonus, you don’t have to return the old jersey.
The Patriots are very specific about what constitutes “under contract” with the team, notes Boston.com. If the player is still on the 53-man roster, you don’t get the discount. If the player was only put on the Injured Reserve or non-football injury list, you also will not get a discount.
Obviously, if you buy a Tom Brady jersey, you really aren’t eligible for a discount.
This isn’t the first time the Patriots have tried to make Jersey customers happy. Back in June 2013, they allowed fans to exchange their Aaron Hernandez jerseys after the former tight end was arrested on murder charges.
