New Girl has elevated Damon Wayans Jr. to a series regular for the show's fourth season.

TV Guide reveals that Wayans Jr. will be coming back as a series regular for the fourth season of New Girl. Initially, Wayans Jr. was supposed to be on New Girl from the first season. Wayans Jr. was part of the New Girl pilot episode but couldn't continue on because he was was already a part of the cast of Happy Endings. With Wayans Jr.'s exit Lamorne Morris took his spot.

The Hollywood Reporters reports how after Happy Endings was cancelled last year, the producers of New Girl locked Wayans Jr into a guest spot for six episodes in the show's current third season. Since, then Wayans Jr. has stayed on for the rest of the season.

Entertainment Weelky noted back in March that New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Following, and The Mindy Project had all been renewed by FOX to come back in the fall for brand new seasons.
