Some viewers of NBC’s Saturday Night Live are not happy with jokes featured during the sketch show’s “Weekend Update” segment delivered by one of the new writers Leslie Jones.

Jones joined Colin Josts for the segment, during which they talked about Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o’s People’s Most Beautiful title. Jones made some jokes about slavery as she gave herself a “Most Useful” title.

"Back in the slave days, I would have never been single. I'm six feet tall and I'm strong, Colin…I mean, look at me, I'm a mandingo,” she said, Daily News reports.

When Josts asked her if she would’ve preferred to be a “slave,” she said she would’ve been the “No. 1 slave draft pick.”

"Massah would have hooked me up with the best brotha on the plantation,” she said. “All of the plantations would want me."

On Sunday, Jones acknowledged the backlash and took to Twitter to clear up her intentions. “It saddens me that BLACK PEOPLE b--ch and moan about the most stupid shit. I'm a comic it is my job to take things and make them funny,” she wrote.

As part of a long rant, Jones even said if comedians Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle did that joke or rapper Jay Z or Kanye West rapped about it they “would be called brilliant.”

“It's a shame that we kill each other instead of support each other. This exactly why black people are where we are now,” she also said.
