If you are a fan of the New York Jets, you often reflect on your own life. You come to realize strong characteristic traits are necessary. Traits such as dedication, buffoonery, idiocy and a complete lack of self-respect at times. Oh yes, the trials and tribulations of being a Jets fan are fierce.

It also means you must have a great sense of humor. Jake Hendrickson, an idiot Jets fan like the rest of us, purchased the game-worn Mark Sanchez jersey during the infamous “Butt-Fumble” game, according to NFL.com. Hendrickson won the jersey for a cool $820 as he fought off other bidders.

The “Butt-Fumble” (I doubt you do not know about this) was when New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez famously ran into guard and teammate Brandon Moore’s enormous back-side during the 2012 season. The ball was scooped up by the Patriots and returned for a touch-down. Oh yeah, and it happened on Thanksgiving night for the entire country to see.

This play will live on in NFL Films blooper reels for eternity, much to the dismay of Jets fans.

"The second I realized what it was I knew I had to have it," Hendrickson said. "Almost for macabre reasons; the amount of ridicule I have received from friends regarding that play and me being a diehard Jets fan out in California especially. There's no way I could let it get in the hands of an anti-fan or something of that manner to be shoved in our face," according to Yahoo Sports.

Hendrickson told Yahoo Sports that for now he will just hang the jersey on the wall until the Jets finally win another Super Bowl. He also speculated that he might shoot the darn thing into outer space.

Most fans only have to deal with losing. Jets fans have to deal with so much more on a too often basis. So just remember this when you’re watching your favorite football team this coming September: remember it can always be worse, you could be a Jets fan.
