For Quentin Tarantino fans who loved Django Unchained, it turns out that what aired in theaters is not all of the footage. Tarantino has 90 minutes of unseen footage and he wants to plan a miniseries for the footage.
USA Today reported that at the Cannes Film Festival Tarantino announced that he would like to move forward with a four-hour miniseries of his intense Western comedy/drama.
Tarantino provided more detail explaining that this is current plan for the project. “My idea, frankly, is to cut together a four-hour version of ‘Django Unchained,’” he said. “But I wouldn’t show it like a four-hour movie. I would cut it up into hour chapters. Like a four-part miniseries. And show it on cable television. Show it like an hour at a time, each chapter.”
The director explained that a four hour movie in a theater would be hard to sit through but a miniseries would be a more digestible format, Variety reported.
Tarantino is keeping busy with another project, it is rumored that even though the script leaked online, he will still be moving forward with his Western The Hateful Eight which is reportedly going into production in November.
