After mistakenly dropping L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff's cell phone while taking a courtside selfie during the LA Clippers game at the Staples Center on Friday, Rihanna has donated $25,000 to his L.A. Police Foundation.
The “Monster” singer was seated next to Soboroff during the game and when he asked her for a picture, she offered to take his phone to snap the selfie. She was embarrassed when the phone slipped out of her hand and it smashed, so she went above and beyond and donated to his charity to make up for it.
Us Weekly reports that Soboroff is even selling the phone, complete with Rihanna’s signature, on eBay to make even more money for a good cause.
Rihanna took to Twitter to promote the sale of the phone, which still works but has a cracked screen, and to apologize for breaking his cell phone in the first place.
“Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :)” she tweeted.
Soboroff tweeted, “YOU can join @rihanna & support @LAPoliceFdtn by bidding on her autographed #selfie phone. 2 days left, don't wait.”
