After cruising to a 17-point victory in Game One, the San Antonio Spurs put on a clinic in Game Two of the Western Conference Finals and defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-77.
Trailing by two after the first quarter, San Antonio turned it around and outscored the Thunder by 31 points in the second and third quarters.
Spurs point guard Tony Parker scored a game-high 22 points and dished out five assists. Shooting guard Danny Green netted seven 3-pointers for a final tally of 21 points.
Power forward Tim Duncan posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Center Tiago Splitter just missed that feat, posting nine points and 10 boards.
San Antonio held Oklahoma City’s high-scoring duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook to a combined 30 points on 13-of-40 shooting.
“Defensively we were pretty active,” San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich said in his postgame press conference, which is available on nba.com. “We had active hands, created some turnovers. I thought our defense was solid.”
The Spurs forced 14 Oklahoma City turnovers and held the Thunder to just two 3-pointers. The Thunder made 39 percent of their shots from the floor, according to the box score on ESPN.com.
The series will shift to Oklahoma City for Game Three on Sunday. While the Thunder hope some home-cooking will help to right the ship, they will still be without starting center Serge Ibaka, who will miss the rest of the playoffs with a calf injury.
The remaining schedule for the series looks like this:
Game Three: May 25 in Oklahoma City
Game Four: May 27 in Oklahoma City
Game Five: May 29 in San Antonio (if necessary)
Game Six: May 31 in Oklahoma City (if necessary)
Game Seven: June 2 in San Antonio (if necessary)
