Last month, Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker, got into an argument on Twitter with a woman named Sarah Symonds. Symonds questioned if Parker was really the mother of her twins, Marion and Tabitha, and Parker has finally opened up about the incident.
Parker, 49, and husband of 17 years, Matthew Broderick, had twin girls back in June 2009 through surrogacy. The two also have a 12-year-old son, James. They typically keep to themselves in NYC, but Parker couldn’t let this one slide.
Parker told The Edit that while scrolling through her Twitter comments, “I was like, “Wait a minute, did she just say that?’ I went back and I thought, ‘Well, this isn’t unhealthy paranoia, this is absolutely conscious. This was a choice.’ She, not subtly at all, said that my children are not my children.”
Symonds rude tweet was quickly deleted once Parker responded with, “What? Like, is this fun?” Parker admits that there have been only about half a dozen times in her entire career that she’s actually wanted to respond to remarks like this one.
Parker wasn’t happy with these comments at all, and she still just doesn’t understand the reasoning behind it. “I can’t figure out what she hated so much about me that she did that,” she added. “And I just can’t imagine anything lower than that.” She admits that she was worried about being on social media from the beginning because of mean people like this, but she understands there are certain things she just has to make peace with.
What bothers Parker the most, though, in the end is that girls even involve themselves in situations like this one. She’s dealt with a lot of girl-on-girl bashing in her life, but it’s something that she finds unnecessary. “I can’t stand when women say unfriendly things to other women,” she said. “Why does it have to be like that?”
