A council member in Washington, D.C. says he has an interest in the ABC television drama, Scandal. Councilman Vincent Orange said that he would like to the show to in Washington in August as part of a film incentive program.
The popular television show, Scandal, shoots regularly in Los Angeles. According to the Associated Press, Washington’s incentive fund has $4.5 million this year. It is administered with the Mayor’s office. Mayor Vincent Gray’s office would like to offer only $1 million to incentives next year.
Councilman Orange says that the city needs incentives so shows set in the capital actually shoot scenes in Washington, D.C.. Orange says he has already met with the producers of the Netflix drama, House of Cards, which shoots in Maryland.
Whether or not the show winds up shooting in Washington, D.C., the television program, Scandal continues this season with the actresses Bellamy Young and Kerry Washington. Washington won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2013. Washington made news recently for giving birth to a baby girl on April 21. They carefully hid the pregnancy while Washington portrayed Olivia Pope, according to TMZ.
