The Seattle Seahawks have made Richard Sherman the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL just over a week after making Earl Thomas the highest-paid safety in the league.

According to ESPN, the team has locked up another member of the Legion of Boom by signing Sherman to a four-year extension worth a record $57.4 million, with $40 million guaranteed.

On Wednesday, the 26-year-old announced the deal on his website.

“I am blessed to announce that the Seattle Seahawks and I have reached an agreement on a contract extension,” he wrote on the blog. “The goal has always been to stay in Seattle and continue to play for the Seahawks. With this chapter closed, I can continue to focus on what is important – defending our Super Bowl Championship and being the best cornerback in the NFL.”

The move does not come as a surprise to anyone, after signing Thomas, the team had to shift its attention to locking up the star cornerback.

Sports Illustrated reported that Sherman was playing out a rookie contract and set to make $1.3 million in 2014 before becoming an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Now that the Seahawks have its defensive unit tied down, the team can concentrate on getting back to and winning another Super Bowl title.
