Sources have said that disgraced Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling has cancer.
According to the New York Post, the sources claim that Sterling, who has become one of the most hated men in America after his racist remarks, is battling prostate cancer. Sources have also confirmed the news to ESPN.com.
The 80-year-old became a household name for all the wrong reasons after TMZ released an audio recording of his deplorable comments to mistress, V. Stiviano.
In the recording, which was over nine minutes long, Sterling told Stiviano not to bring black people to his games. He specifically named Magic Johnson and said that he did not want her publically associating with black people. Stiviano is Mexican and African American herself.
Once the racist rant was made public, NBA commissioner Adam Silver came down with the hammer and banned the owner from the league and fined him $2.5 million.
Clippers players, who were obviously offended by what Sterling said, took the high road after hearing that he may have cancer. Chris Paul called it “truly unfortunate” and Blake Griffin offered sympathy.
"If that is true, my thoughts and prayers are with him," Griffin said. "Nobody deserves to go through something like that."
