Director Nancy Malone has died at the age of 78.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that besides being a director, Malone was also a actress, and producer who co-founded the Women in Film. According to her publicist Harlan Boll, Malone died on May 8 from pneumonia, which she suffered from as a result from being diagnosed with leukemia. Malone portrayed the character of Libby Kingston on Naked City, which aired on ABC from 1958-63.In 1975, she co-founded Women in Film, which is a the nonprofit organization that focuses on helping women succeed in entertainment, communication and media industries.

Actress Tyne Daly worked with Malone on The N.Y. Pops Tribute to Bob Hope and said, "She was one of the funniest known human beings. With her unfailing good taste and a heart of Irish gold, I loved working and playing with her." Others who stared in The N.Y. Pops Tribute to Bob Hope include Angela Lansbury, Michele Lee and Michael Feinstein.

Variety reveals how Malone directed many hit television shows. These include episodes of Melrose Place, Dynasty, Beverly Hills, 90210, Knots Landing, Touched by an Angel and Dawson’s Creek.
