The CW made a slew of moves Thursday afternoon, announcing that The Flash has been picked up as a series and cancelling three shows. The youth-targeting network also renewed Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie.

Let’s start with the bad news. The Carrie Diaries, the Sex and the City prequel series with AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw, has been cancelled after two seasons. As Entertainment Weekly notes, the show averaged just 1.1 million viewers this past season.

The pilot Star-Crossed and The Tomorrow People were also cancelled, as was the Supernatural spin-off Bloodlines. That project, which was once known as Tribes isn’t going forward after the pilot aired during the current season of Supernatural. EW’s sources say that there is a chance that Supernatural could get a different spin-off eventually.

Now, here’s the good news. Fox’s Gotham isn’t the only new DC Comics series debuting on TV this fall. The Flash with Grant Gustin as the title character has been picked up straight-to-series. That was widely expected, as the character has appeared on The CW’s Arrow.

Writer Jennie Snyder Urman’s Jane The Virgin, based on a Venezuelan series, has also been picked up, as was The Messengers, a sci-fi pilot.

Finally, the CW is getting in the zombie game with iZombie from Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and Diane Ruggiero. That project is based on a comic published by DC Comics’ Vertigo.

Beauty and the Beast, The 100 and Hart of Dixie have all been renewed.
