The Monuments Men is a star-studded film that did a great job of depicting the Nazi’s values. It showed that the Nazi’s took better care of objects than they did their own people.

The movie starts off rather slow and is continually jumping around between the eight main characters in the film. Without a well-rounded knowledge of the time period the movie was hard to follow.

Directed by George Clooney, the movie did a great job depicting the time period through setting. All of the scenery was convincing of a warzone. The most powerful scene in the movie is when the men find a barrel full of gold fillings. The very next shot is a look of disgust and sorrow on the faces of all the men.

The script could have been better but it displayed commanding officers in the military well who wouldn’t risk the lives of their men for art. There was slight comedy throughout the movie that seemed to be the big moments for Bill Murray.

Clooney and Matt Damon were two big roles in the film and one did a much better job than the other. Damon’s character was all over the place and in most scenes was outshined by Cate Blanchett.

The other lead role, George Clooney, was convincing but a little over the top. His speeches throughout the movie were his best lines – especially the speech at the end when he faces down Hugh Bonneville’s killer.

Hugh Bonneville had the most compelling performance for the short time that he was on screen.
