Michael Jace, 48, was arrested Tuesday morning at 2:15 a.m. P.T. on the suspicion of murdering his wife, April, 40. The couple had been married for 10 years and had two boys under 10 years old. Police were responding to a call in Hyde Park area at the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue that entailed three gun shots. Jace is an actor known for ‘The Shield’ and playing a black panther in Forrest Gump.
April was found lying dead in a hallway of their home with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Their two children were home during the incident but it is unclear whether or not they witnessed the shooting. "It's a grieving process for both children," LAPD detective Sal LaBarbara said according to NBCLosAngeles. "They're without their mom and their dad is in jail for the murder of their mother." Just moments before the gunshots, neighbors heard the couple arguing.
Thus far Michael Jace is the only suspect in the case and he has confessed to shooting his wife to death. When police arrived he did not have a gun in his possession in accordance with LATimes. This was the first time police had to respond to a call in this area.
