The 2014 NFL Draft is over but what about a Major League Baseball draft? Who would get drafted number one and where would they go?

Drafts are about the future stars of a sport. They are suppose to get us excited about the future. That’s especially true in baseball. Right now you got a lot of players who are starting to get close to retiring from the game. This season is the last for Derek Jeter, and the question is who will replace him at shortstop? Then we have the pitching epidemic where a lot of pitcher are getting injured and not being able to play. While the pitching injuries aren’t career-ending, injuries can end a career for a player.

Despite Jeter retiring this year and players that are close to retiring, the good news is there are young players who are coming up the ranks and could be MLB’s future stars. So who are baseball’s future stars and where will they play? Here are the top ten MLB 2014 draft prospects and where they could go.

10. Noah Syndergaard RHP to New York Mets: Syndergarrd made it to Double-A Binghamton and started the Futures Games for the U.S. team at Citit Field. He is a power right-handed pitcher whose fastball reaches 98 mph and has a curveball and a changeup as his second and third pitches. Last year he had a 3.06 ERA and a 4.75 K-to –BB ratio. He could be on a similar path as Mets pitcher Matt Harvey.

9. Addison Russell SS to Oakland Athletics: Russell has made himself one of the top shortstop prospects. He’s got the arms and the range to make plays. He’s also an aggressive base runner. Last year he hit .275/.377/.508 with 85 runs scored, 17 homeruns, and 21 stolen bases for High-A Stockton.

8. Taijuan Walker RHP to Seattle Mariners: Walker is still developing as a pitcher. His offspeed pitches could be above average. Last year in the Southern League he had a 2.46 ERA and a 96-30 K-BB ratio. At Triple-A Tacoma he had a 3.61 ERA and made his Major League debut with the Mariners. In three major league starts he had a 3.60 ERA and a 12-4 K-BB ratio.

7. Archie Bradley RHP to Arizona Diamondbacks: Bradley made it to Double-A Mobile last year. He had a 1.84 ERA, which ranked third in all of the Minor leagues. His fastball can reach the mid 90 mph mark and has a curveball and changeup as his other best pitches. He’s the best pitcher in the minors.

6. Francisco Lindor SS to Cleveland Indians: Lindor played in the Futures Game in 2012 and made it to Double-A Akron last year. He has a strong arm and range. He’s a good runner and many scouts say he’s the best defender in the minors. HE hit .303/.380/.407 with 22 doubles, seven triples, and 25 stolen bases last year.

5. Javier Baez SS to Chicago Cubs: Baez made it to Double-A Tennessee, where he hit .282/.341/.578 with 98 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. He led the Minors with 75 extra base hits and 111 RBIs. Although he’s not good on the defense side of the ball yet, he is a good hitter.

4. Kris Bryant 3B to Chicago Cubs: Bryant won the Golden Spikes Award at the University of San Diego last year and also won the MVP award in the Arizona Fall League. He has a strong arm and above-average power. He’ll be able to have a good batting average and can play the outfield if necessary.

3. Carlos Correa SS to Houston Astros: Correa helped Class A Quad Cities win the Midwest League title last year. He led the league with a .872 OPS. He has a strong arm and good defensive instincts. He’s an average runner but has above-average power. Correa could be an impact player.

2. Oscar Taveras OF to St. Louis Cardinals: Taveras is the top outfield prospect. He has a good arm and average speed. His bat speed is good and has above average power. Last year Taveras hit .306/.341/.462 with 17 extra-base hits and 32 RBIs at Triple-A Memphis.

1. Byron Buxton OF to Minnesota Twins: Buxton is the top outfield prospect. He has good speed and his power is better than expected. He has good instincts in the outfield. Buxton has taken the Minors by storm and excelled. Last year he had a .944 OPS with 49 extra-base hits, 12 homeruns, and 55 stolen bases.
