After a number of ups-and-downs behind the scenes, despite solid ratings, CBS announced Wednesday morning that the upcoming 12th season of their sitcom Two and a Half Men will also be its last.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chuck Lorre show will be "creating a season-long event" with the program moving to Thursdays at 9 p.m. At this time, an episode count for this season has not been reported.
"We did very well last year with announcing final season of How I Met You Mother here, too," said Nia Tassler, a spokesperson for CBS announced during a pre-upfront press breakfast in New York. "Chuck is very psyched about this; he's got some great ideas and very big surprises. We know fans and audiences respond to that and that should really give us a nice boost when we launch our new comedy."
When asked whether or not one of those surprises could include the return of star Charlie Sheen, Tassler declined to comment.
This news comes after years of declining ratings for the program once Sheen left the show, as noted in The Huffington Post. Regardless of this, however, the show continues to be longest-running live-action comedy on broadcast TV at the moment.
Two and a Half Men was first renewed for another season back in March, which is a rare move for the show considering that new contracts had to be negotiated with the show's stars.
