Recent casting rumors about Season 2 of True Detective have no truth to them, according to creator Nic Pizzolatto.

“Literally, not a single rumor about casting that has been printed anywhere has any truth to it whatsoever,” Pizzolatto said at a press conference according to the Calgary Herald .

Pizzolatto is referring to rumors that have surfaced over the past few months since True Detective finished its first season. As the second season will feature a whole new cast, rumors have surfaced about other actors coming in to fill the lead roles previously occupied by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Jessica Chastain was rumored to star in the second season, as reported by Vanity Fair, but later came out and denied the rumor. Brad Pitt and Christian Bale were also said to be in talks.

Pizzolatto says he has only talked to one person about appearing in the new season. He also denied the rumor that the second season would feature a female-led cast.

“Again, it’s a rumor with no basis in fact,” he said. “There is a strong female character. But I wouldn’t say it is female-led or anything like that.”
