Fans of the late singer Aaliyah are not happy with the new biopic.
Lifetime has announced that a biopic on Aaliyah Haughton is in the works. It was originally reported that VH1 was doing the movie. According to thatgrapejuice.net, Zendaya Coleman will be playing the late singer.

Coleman is the star of the Disney hit show Shake It Up. Fans are not happy with Coleman’s role because Zendaya is not black. The petition states to “Honor Aaliyah’s legacy by actually honoring her heritage.” The petition has received very little support though.
Fans also are not happy with the production of the family altogether. The Late Princess of R&B’s family never agreed to have the film done. The petition petition has over 1,000 signatures.
Coleman went to Twitter to defend herself stating that:
“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career her talent still shines brighter than ever. All I want to do is honor her.”
There are no comments from the Haughton family.
