ABC Family has renewed Pretty Little Liars for two more seasons on the same day as the season 5 premiere.
In a statement, ABC Family President Tom Ascheim said, “Pretty Little Liars has taken its place in the zeitgeist and reigns supreme in pop culture. I am glad to bring another two seasons to our audience because ‘A’ has a lot in store for our Liars,” reports E Online.
The show is ABC Family’s top network drama, so it’s unsurprising that the network decided to keep it around for a few more years. Season 6 is set to premiere mid-2015, while season 7 will premiere mid-2016. Though an episode count has not yet been revealed, the teen drama generally airs between 22 to 25 episodes a season, including holiday-centric specials. Season 5 will be the first year the show airs a special Christmas episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Last year, Nielsen named the drama the most-tweeted series of the year, and each episode averages about 3.8 million viewers.
The show stars Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell as the titular liars, while Ian Harding, Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse also star.
