Actor Meshach Taylor, best known for his Emmy nominated performance on the popular sitcom Designing Women has died, he was 67.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Taylor was in hospice care with his family. His son Tariq told The LA Times, that Taylor died at 10:47 p.m. Saturday night. Taylor’s agent, Dede Binder told The Associated Press, that he died of cancer.
From 1986 to 1993, Taylor portrayed Anthony Bouvier, an ex-convict turned designer, on the popular sitcom Designing Women, a role for which he received an Emmy nomination. Taylor’s other credits include the film Mannequin, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, and The Drew Carey Show.
Meshach Taylor’s family publicly announced that Taylor’s health had started to decline on his Facebook page saying, “Our friends who know and love us, please offer your prayers for his peace and blazing light as he ascends to the heavens.”
The Associated Press reports that Taylor is survived by his wife, Bianca Ferguson, and his four children.
